As this project developed from a summer internship experiment to several production-ready projects, I worked with my mentor Editorial Director Julia Van Develder to develop emails with engaging copy and images.
Another aim of this project was to convey our strong intellectual culture and progressive history as an institution. As of 2017, these emails were being delivered to an audience of over 20,000 consisting of prospective students, parents, and alumnae/i.
Implementing a custom responsive email system
With guidance from Chris Silverman and the Vassar Office of Communications’ web design team, I researched and prototyped a template using Node.js build automation tools—primarily ZURB’s Foundation for Emails. I also authored automation shell scripts that allowed me to quickly deploy these HTML emails to the Technolutions Slate CRM.
